The City of Chicago is currently planning to give the detective’s part 1 exam in the 4th quarter of 2025, and the part 2 exam in the 1st quarter of 2026.
They have announced a new format for the 2025 detective’s exam. While part 1 will remain a written multiple-choice test, part 2 will now be an ORAL EXAM. This is a major change that all candidates must prepare for strategically.
